Three Political Nuggets of Information (Santorum, Maine and Ron Paul)
- Rick Santorum has said that Obama leads with a “different theology”. Very vague statement. His explanation was less vague but I think it was him running away from the original intent of the message more so than a further glimpse into the truth of the situation. Like the Romney “poor” comment, I think this will come back to hurt Santorum in a week or two, rather than up front. It may not hurt Santorum as much, as it is a political comment that shouldn’t affect the primary race amongst Republicans…but it would surely be used as ammunition against him should he win the nomination.
- The additional vote tallying in Maine has been concluded. In the counties that were previously unaccounted for, Ron Paul placed at about 2:1 over Mitt Romney, giving him many votes that he previously did not have. Unfortunately for the Paul campaign, it wasn’t enough to give him his first state win on the campaign trail, as he finished in second by a margin of around 115~117 votes (my memory is fuzzy, but it was that close).
- In the meantime, Paul held a “fiery rally” in Kansas City. According to the Washington Post, Congressman Ron was quoted as saying that “We’ve slipped away from a true Republic,” Paul said. “Now we’re slipping into a fascist system where it’s a combination of government and big business and authoritarian rule and the suppression of the individual rights of each and every American citizen.”
