“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek is in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a mild heart attack, according to a statement from his representative.
Trebek, 71, who was admitted on Saturday, was said to be in good spirits. He is under observation and undergoing further testing.
He is expected to fully recover and be back at “Jeopardy!” when production begins taping in July for the new season, the show’s 29th.
Trebek apparently appears to be in better shape than he actually is. This is already his second heart attack. With Bob Barker off of TV, Trebek and Sajak are the last two main bastions of game show hosts in modern entertainment. Most others are better known for gigs outside of the show, while Trebek and Sajak are nearly synonymous with the shows that they host. It will be sad to see Trebek leave Jeopardy! when he eventually does.
Let all nerds and triviatards unite together in wishing Trebek a speedy recovery and at least a few more years on the show.
